Hi guys,
I've written a mail to Yariv, pointing out the current situation in the forum about the tournament board choices.
Don't know what he thinks about this, but I suggested to change the T board choice as follows:
--- quote --- My suggestion for the eight T boards within one season (order during season randomly, of course): 1. Big board with extremely high mine density >95% (e.g. 40x25/988 mines) 2. Large medium board with medium-high density 50-80% (e.g. similar to expert style, but a little bit easier to make it solvable for everyone competing in tournaments) 3. Medium board, both sides 8, 10, 12 or 15, with medium-high density 50-80% (e.g. similar to intermediate style) 4. Long rectangles (proportions greater than 4:1 or 1:4) with high density 66-85% (e.g. 6x25/115 mines) 5. Big board, both sides 15+, with low density <10% (e.g. 20x20/20) 6. Small board, but no parameter below 5 (minimum would be 5x5/5) 7. Any board with odd rows and odd columns (e.g. 11x7 or 15x13), medium density 50-75% 8. Any board out of category 1 to 7. --- quote ---
Hope, you feel well with my proposals. We would definitely have more boards - with categories 2, 3, 4, 7, and partly 8, a quite guaranteed half of tournaments - that need 10-40 seconds. Category 2 would also cover boards in "easy genius" style that require playing times between 100 and 400 seconds.
@EWQM.: I refused to suggest banning sub-10s boards completely. These are a special category that require different skills than e.g. intermediate or expert style boards, and not all of them are pure luck.
But let's see what Yariv will decide to do.
