Title: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Qetuth on Oct 27th, 2006 at 4:39am
Because of the size of the original "New personal records" topic started by Jon Simonsen and because of frequent spam posts in it, nonoforum admins decided to lock it permanently and start a new topic for personal records. Feel free to announce your own achievements or comment on new personal records of other players.

Well, lets get this topic moving:

146.46 Genius!

clicks 87+99 =186. Thats 15 seconds and 15 clicks off best. The board doesnt look particularly easy to me, but I hadnt gone under 200 this month and wasnt really trying for a record, just having a couple of games during a break in my work.

Take that Nikolaj!

@Q: WOW  :o Grats  [smiley=thumbsup.gif] I don´t have much time these days (still haven´t played current T after mines change), but wait for the Christmas, I will have 2 or 3 sweeping  days ;)

I finally broke 200 in Genius - 185.30!  That's a 22 second improvement over my previous record.

85+96=181 clicks.

Next week I'll be back at the bottom of division 1.  Hopefully I'll get a few points.  Last time I only got 7.  I have a better chance at the bigger boards.

Great time! Hopefully plenty more sub200s to come. And plenty more large tourney boards for both of us  ;)

Hexxpert in action

43.31s in unbelievable easy grid ;)

Only 77 clicks ;D

Please, just watch the vid here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR7yy4p0i10

@hexx: you lucky bastard!!! SO easy grid is impossible to get in normal way, this is definitely a cheat   :o ;D Good and fast playing, very well done, hopefully you´ll break Dion´s minesweeper record (currently 38) soon ;)

@Caren: Good job! It´s always nice to see minor improvements (mere 22 seconds, that´s nothing)  ;D ;)

Woot, 1st expert game today  :D

107 clicks - 48 flags, 59 safe, for me it´s slightly below average ;)

Nice Nikolaj,

i tried Nono today, too and here are the results:
Beginner: 2sx2, 3sx2, so no problemes getting a 2 ;)
Intermediate: 15,16,16,18,20,20
Expert: 57!!!(can't believe it myself), LCed a 62 before, 71, 78, 85, 89, 94, 99, 104

Don't ask me how I did the 57 or how I nearly got 62 ;D

...perhaps I will try some more games... ;)

PS: Just wanted to see if I could beat Roland...^^

Game statistics:
Flag: 87
Safe: 83

Another modify: Really nice time hexx, amazing vid, too. Gratz

hey Gero! nice to see you around  :) It´s nice to know you didn´t get rusty at all  ;D

and looks like Luca is back to regular sweeping :)

@Nikolaj:
Hey, well done. :D I'm now waiting to see you beat your brother.:o
Maybe, World rankings too, why not! ;)

@Gero:
Welcome back! :) :)
and just to say that the stats of your 57s aren't correct, just cant be :-/
The numbers are too high :P, You probably are using -perhaps without know- a special function in your button's mouse.
Note that mine for 43.31s are 30+47=77 and all of my sub-50s were finished in less than 100 clicks?!?!?

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Gero on Feb 12th, 2007 at 5:28pm
I'm not really back, just tried a few games but thanks ;)

Well, I'm pretty sure my stats are correct. I mentioned during my little nono session that I misclicked really A LOT! Probably that's why my other times are so bad. Must have been really lucky with the board. Too bad I didn't made a screeny

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Gero on Feb 13th, 2007 at 6:04pm
Went on playing a bit and Exp top10 is now following:
57,64,65,68,70,71,71,72,72,73

But I play many games around 80s...
The 64 was with over 200 clicks 100 each for save and flag...so my stats for 57 are probably right ;)

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Stephan on Jul 12th, 2007 at 6:21pm
Yeah! Within the last 10 days, I played several intermediate games, getting 14x4 until yesterday. And today, I got a 13.26, and - a few minutes later - a 13.71 (on video). :D

See updated website for details.

Nikolaj, maybe it's time to beat you in one of the Total rankings ;-)

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Qetuth on Jul 16th, 2007 at 5:29am
After all the non-flagging target practice tourneys lately (by round 3 I was thinking this was a shooting gallery game :P) I thought I should be in practice for intermediate.

Much frustration later, I gave up on NF int once again and went back to just clicking like crazy all over the place, and got 2 23's and then a 22.48! 50 clicks! Just two and a half more seconds and I can crack 20 with the crazy all over the place strategy :D

I still can't figure out this NF int business....let alone hexx's idea about clearing things in some sort of sensible order...

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2

@Stephan: try it! Maybe it brings new motivation for me ;) well done both int record breakers ;)

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Qetuth on Aug 21st, 2007 at 2:43am
Last night I set, about 10 minutes apart, new personal records in both expert and genius!  :D :D :D   10 seconds off between them!

Expert: 57.73
Genius: 140.54

The expert board is rather nice, but looking over the genius one it doesnt really look special. I'm having trouble with uploading screenshots to my site, so heres one I prepared earlier:

That file is dated October. 10 months to set a time I missed by a single click  :-[

PS: For those interested in sessions, it was a genius one. I had been playing genius for about half an hour and that was my third finish, first under 180. I played only 2 or 3 expert games all night. I've also been playing a lot less nono and a lot more diablo II lately, so I was rather shocked at the times. I guess trying to shoot those flayers really builds accuracy too.

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2

80.05-->79.35

Two second hesitation at the end, because I wanted to take extra care not to blast, but still, first sub80!  Whoo!

Also the 21st best exp time overall, close to cracking that top20 now.

Well, 13x5 = tied Stephan in WR :)

Now I'm one 12 behind Gero and I know I'm perfectly capable of getting 12x5. Watch out Roli! your average 11.6 is not THAT far anymore :P

Hehe just noticed I have perfectly rounded averages

1.0+13.0+56.0+153.0=TTL 154.0 in World rankings including genius :P

Pretty easy board  ;)

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Stephan on Mar 14th, 2008 at 12:41pm
Hey Nikolaj,

congratulations to your 12! When you wrote your pre-last post, I didn't expect you to sub-13 so quickly, so today, I wasn't even aware of you having already achieved a 12!
But at least, I managed to tie your best score and your int average again, as I could finish in 12 as well.

So, I appreciate the int ranking being sorted by date and without decimals, as therefore, I'm currently in #5, even if my 12 is "only" a 12.81 and yours seems to be a 12.74 :D

Screenshot will be available soon at http://www.stephan-bechtel.de. Very easy board though, 21 clicks only, but I don't care ;D

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Nikolaj on Mar 14th, 2008 at 1:06pm
aaargh, stupid ranking system :D congratulations, we have both tied our minesweeper int times  :P (in fact I have same scores in both games)

my board was finished in 23 clicks (1 was unnecessary) so there's not much difference in board difficulty if you ask me :)

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Nikolaj on Apr 21st, 2008 at 8:16pm
What a board  :o :o :o

Hexx, do you think you would get 8 on such board?

Unfortunately I didn't want to blast it, becuse I knew it will be great time, so I was really slow from the moment I solved 2nd row from bottom. Otherwise even I would get 10  ;D

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Stephan on Apr 21st, 2008 at 10:39pm
Hey Nikolaj,
11 is #3 in the world, at least :o. Congratulations! It will be hard for me to catch you ever again in intermediate, as I also miss the several 12s you obviously achieved (got my 9th 13 only :().

Just curious: I have >800 sub-20s at the moment. Did you track your amounts of 12, 13, 14 and so on?

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Gero on Apr 22nd, 2008 at 6:02pm
Awesome!
Congratulations.
Can't imagine to get such a good time on int ever. I played pretty long for my 12 and didn't got close to get it 5 times. So great time ;)

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Nikolaj on Apr 22nd, 2008 at 6:17pm
@Gero: Thanks  ;) I think on this board everybody would get his personal record ;)

@Stephan: thanks :) since 2.10.2005 I have 553 sub20 games (I almost don't play INT ;))

19x119, 18x145, 17x112, 16x84, 15x51, 14x28, 13x9, 12x4, 11x1

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by hexx on Apr 24th, 2008 at 9:30pm
Hey, nice score :)

With 11.48s, you almost broke former Roland's WR on Int (11.39s). ;D

On the other hand, i believe i wouldn't reach 8s, nor 9s on this board.
It does not fit on my strategy, i'm more concern with 1 2 , 2 2 or 2 3 edged blocks.

@hexx: Well, I haven't seen any 0s game as your new personal record  ;) I admit you have gotten much closer than I imagined, but 1.04 isn't 0 :)

For those who don't remember our bet:

http://www.simplismgames.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1105367487/214#214

My question is: are you coming to Vienna this year? September 20. Christoph, could you confirm the championship takes place and the date? Thank you.

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Christoph on Jun 13th, 2008 at 10:19pm
Actually the Nonosweeper event is planed for Friday the 19th September (it's still time to change that if a lot of nonosweeper players protest and want it on Sunday (the minesweeper event is scheduled for 13:00 on Saturday, so if we want to play on Saturday we'd have to start in the very morning).

I plan to use basically the same system as last year: 8 short sessions with tourny points.
Perhaps you can help me with some input: I think about not ranking by the best score but by the sum of the best two in each session.
Also I'd like to use last years system to determine the boards - but I don't like the idea that players practice the boards before the tourny, so maybe I'll pick the boards myself this time (you can be sure, I wouldn't pick only 5x4 boards but a sensefull set).

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by hexx on Jun 28th, 2008 at 11:56am
First,

1.03s isn't but 0.98s or 0.95s will be 0s.
The deadline I proposed doesn't make sense anymore because what really matters is the "achievement itself" rather than the "date". ;)
I have no intention to play more beginner this year, in fact, I'm in some sort of "reflection period".
For instance, why Stephan got 20s in current T when my best was only 21.32s . This is an interesting issue because it's known Stephan "dislikes" this type of boards ?!?!?
Another, why I simply can´t beat Stephan on T boards solved by blue smile, example, 4.73s against 3.85s on last T ?!?!?!
And another, why my Minesweeper Int scores are so "bad" - best is 23.006s - when everybody makes 13s, 14s or so?!?!?!
So, I'm thinking.........I'm thinking.
0s can wait!!!!!

Second,
Sorry Nikolaj, the chances to be present in Vienna T are very low, so don't count with me. :-/

Off topic,
My history file - Minesweeper - got corrupted >:(, is there any way to fix it?

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by EWQMinesweeper on Jun 29th, 2008 at 10:42am
@hexx:   i think you need to rename the history file.

and 22 on mines iint is quite normal when having 74 on mines exp. it is very hard to reach a level of skills in minesweeper in which you regulary get sub20 on int. also a 14 on int would be in top100 int highscores.

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Stephan on Jul 3rd, 2008 at 11:39am
@hexx: It isn't true that I dislike this type of boards. 15x10/100 is nice for me as I play quite a lot of intermediate, so pattern recognition is quite good in columns.

And why you can't be me on blue smiley boards, I really don't know, but of course, I appreciate the status quo :-).

@Nikolaj: It's unlikely as well that I'll be in Vienna this year :(

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2

@Stephan, hex: What can I do to raise the probability that you'll show up in vienna? :)

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2

@Nikolaj: Maybe Fritz Loehr will already be able to beat the Czechs. He is really quick on smaller boards ;)

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Gero on Jul 8th, 2008 at 3:30pm
Hey there.  :)

I would've really liked to see you again (Farniks, Stephan, Christoph, etc.) but without knowing the exact date of the tourny I must say that I won't participate again, because I have 3 huge tests in september and need all the time I get to learn for them.  :(
So sry, I would've really enjoyed it but not this year.
And if I would participate I wouldn't beat any of you probably. Not playing Nonosweeper anytime. Only started a bit MS Exp the last days but I'm happy when i finish <80...well, no I would be happy if I would finish <70 ;D Also had some chances with a 50/50 lc on 61. Lucky board probably. ;)
So have a nice tourny @Farniks hopefully we'll meet in future.

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by EWQMinesweeper on Aug 1st, 2008 at 5:52pm
@stephan: unfortunately i won't have the time to take part in vienna tournament. it's on the 1st weekend after school starts after summer holidays >:(

i might be fast on smaller boards but i have no chance to beat anyone from div1 on larger boards (see current tournament)

..but i'm working on that

now back to the actual topic: nono exp 87=====>82 (~85 flags used)
i also blasted a possible 19 on int 5 flags before the end at 17sec

@nikolaj: i play nono with the same aim as mines - i try to finish as many boards as possible, so this blast hurts even more. i#ll try my best to sub70 and hopefully sub65 soon.

Seems like all of you with pro version have mastered the game, I'm still learning, in order for me to win a couple of guesses must fall into play, but I got my first sub 300 just now (297) and also won 3 expert boards this week, prior to it I had 4 wins.

Hey Mike! Glad you finally made it here :)

Well, I've been playing Nonosweeper for 17 months now and i can tell you that it's mainly a matter of practice (and often enough the luck to get an easy board). If you keep playing i'm sure you can make it to sub100 on exp by the end of the year!

Big congrats on your 1st sub300!!!

Trying hard for a 0s game but I just don't think it's going to happen... I cannot get that fast of reflex... maybe I should be trying harder at tournament boards.  :P

Probably I can improve learning again 15 squares exact combination..

By the way this is the best score of the month. I think that someone can easily go under that, expecially considering amazing times on tournament games.

52.18 on expert, 33 left, 55 right clicks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HHVltCxp8g

It seems that the number of recorded clicks gets bugged by viewing the replay like in this video. After recording this video Nonosweeper says it's 90 left and 90 right clicks.

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Lutz on Oct 17th, 2016 at 9:15pm
True, seems to be a bug. Just did a 164.45 on Genius (not so fast but I just wanted to solve one board quickly in order to verify). Actually, this was a 103+144 clicks. The replay says 159+152.

That explains the weird statistics.

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2

@hexx:

1. I think you still owe an apology to Lutz, Stephan an me.
2. I think you should film yourself playing Nonosweeper like Lutz, Stephan and I did.

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by hexx on Oct 23rd, 2016 at 8:35pm
@ Fritz:

First, it is clear to me that you think (however avoid to say) i speedup my scores as well.

Second, cause there are things vids don’t show clearly and your ability on board and gaming analysis needs refinement (took you almost 5 years to find a click counter bug on version 2.14), here is a detailed report of my 10.60s:

1) 33 pattern (top row): This is a guess, unneeded cause i didn’t look to the left column. I always guess in this situation and saved some time by avoid think.

2) 611 patterns (left columns): Played simultaneously. Unusual  moment for me but saved 2 clicks (or perhaps just 1 due to the zero row).

3) 214 pattern (bottom row): Another  guess on 13 patterns. Normaly i guess right away in just one click in the first possible situation, but not this time. Wasted 1 click.

4) 222 pattern (3rd bottom row): Here i “think” on 13 patterns  again, wasting 1 click and some time. From this on the game was “peanuts”.

Conclusion: With 2 guesses and only 1 “think”!!!!!, I was able to solve a 21 3vb grid in 22 clicks. The score is a bit irrelevant here, all i want to show is that some games are so simple. However this is much more than “just luck”, I call it SKILL.

The question here is: Can you Fritz match my Int Skill?
With all your respect no you can’t. Why? Well, you play very simple, almost exclusively by logic. Logic means thinking and thinking means time wasting. Without guessing you just can’t do it, not even on a 18 3bv board like your 11.12s game.

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by EWQMinesweeper on Oct 23rd, 2016 at 9:02pm
@hexx: Where's your video? Where's your apology? What's taking you so long do write a few remorseful lines and to film yourself solving a few games?

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by hexx on Oct 28th, 2016 at 2:48pm
@Fritz: "....remorseful lines..." you say. Must be joking right!
Are you referring to this?: http://www.nonosweeper.com/cgi-bin/tourntimes.cgi?tourn=367

In another "arbitrary accusations" i would say that i suspect the 2.29 from "****" was made on "Harryck scale".
Certainly the 2.00s from Stephan has a logic explanation. Must have been made in a "hell of a game", one that happens once in a billion...
Behave yourself Stephan
Behave yourself Fritz

Another post from hexx, another missed opportunity to apologise and post a video.

I'm starting to wonder why it's taking him so long to come up with a video when Stephan, Lutz and I needed only a few days.

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Stephan on Oct 29th, 2016 at 5:40pm
@EWQM.: Give up the hope for a video, hexx seems to prefer continuing with his accusations :(.

@hexx: It is really getting annoying >:(. I always accepted that other players are way faster than myself in T grids that are similar to Genius, Expert or Intermediate level. And most others seem to accept (I think) that I can be fast on some non-standard grids such as big board with extremely low density, big board with extremely high density, some small boards with low density, some rectangular boards. Only you are publicly mistrusting my scores. Why?

About your last post: You obviously are referring to S40T5.
Yes, the 2.29 listed as '****' was from Harryck. We don't know whether he cheated in that game, but 2.29 is definitely possible without cheating if you get an ideal board.
And yes, you are right, my 2.00 was made in a hell of a game. It was this one. And as I don't get two blank rows every time 6x6/20 is our T grid, I this time (one week ago) failed in finishing a sub-3.

47.97 with 55 left and 33 right clicks. there were 2 intentioonal unforced guesses in the 2nd and 5th column from the left. after that the rest of the board was easy. as you can see in the video the replay system not only messes up the counted clicks in game statistics but also the time counter. after the replay it says 48 while it's still 47.97 in game statistics.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dHOUgvydKI

also now 3rd on all 5 rankings and tied 2nd place on expert.

123.52 seconds, almost world record, could have been a 122 if I hadn't hesitated a bit at the end, 2nd fastest time ever, only Lutz has a better time. Very nice board, made an unforced guess relatively early.

98 left, 64 right, 162 total clicks at 1.31 cl/s.

Btw, with EWQM's getting a new genius world record, I thought it might be worth an attempt for myself to play a bit standard levels. So, I managed to improve my personal expert record from 56.85 (April 2006) to 53.72 (11 years  and 7 months later) 8-). Back in Top10 again :D.

Congratulations, Stephan! That's probably a record for the longest intervall between two personal records.

I'm still decently fast at Genius and got a 124 today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uuqAYPKA0k&feature=youtu.be

I now have the 1st, 3rd and 4th fastest times on Genius and need a 126 or better for the overall best top5 times on this level.

Make it 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th fastest times on genius.

Have you ever tried to play custom board 10x10+50?
That is my favorite custom board and basically is the mix between int size board and expert mine density.
It is as challenging as awesome, you should try playing a bit.
My best score is 18.98s, the vid is here: https://youtu.be/oNv3axjPxno

Got a 48.71 on Expert. 51 left and 38 right clicks, 89 total at 1.83 clicks/s.

Switching my focus from Genius to expert seems to pay off already. I get quite a few sub55s every day but I think I need to make the way I solve the last 20-40 squares more efficient. I assume it would be much faster to finish the board using only either left or right clicks instead of both.

Also my top5 times on Expert and Genius are now 47, 48, 49, 50, 51 and 121, 122, 123, 124, 125.

New World Record on Genius: 121.99 -----> 118.85. The 2 minute barrier has been broken!

110 left clicks, 70 right clicks, 180 total clicks at 1.51 clicks/second.

There was one unforced guess right at the start but the rest of the board was quite easy.

I got a 119.16 this evening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi-E14xxEEY

129 left, 73 right and 202 total clicks at 1.70 cl/s.

Compared to the 118 this game has a few more unforced guesses (4 I think) but is played at a much faster pace and could have been a 117 with a more efficient finish.

This 119 also moves me to 2nd place on the World Ranking that includes Genius.

Got a 123.66 with 116 left, 66 right, 182 total clicks at 1.47 cl/s. It's my 6th best time, the previous 123 in my top5 on the profile page is a 123.52.

And here's the 120.85 from last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJOTEiXcY8U&feature=youtu.be

Could have been a 119 or even 118 without that small pause a bit after 100s. Still kinda happy that this 120 closes the gap between the 119 and 121 I already had.

117.95 on Genius. Super easy and fast board. Kept a pretty good pace up to around 90-95 seconds, then deliberately slowed down a bit to avoid losing by clicking the wrong square.

111 left, 71 right, 182 total clicks at 1.54 clicks/second

If we had unweighted rankings that would include Genius level for single best time and the average of your top 5 games I would now be ahead of hexx on both of them.

@EWQM:

A few more vids from you but even more cheat than usual...
The games you really play should be called Nonocheater, Stinky Mania and Minefaker. You just can't avoid it, right stephan!
I must say I've nothing against your stinky play unless you compare your scores with mine. Please don't do it again. Am I asking too much!?

One more thing Fritz, I'd like to congratulate you for your 117s and 48s vids.
If you check them again around 39s and 21s respectively, you will find something very interesting!!!!
Yes, you got busted. From this point on you are officially "out of the closet". Congrats again.
I wonder if you can show to me, Caren, Svade, Bobo, Kimmo, Spot and so on the vids of breathtaking 78.72s and 100.78s (Genius) and hair-raising 38.59s?
My sweet Lord, you were ON FIRE in order to get such scores...

With love :-* and no offence :-X,

Cheers Cheater.

Please bring forward any "evidence" you have. Please point out whatever you think you have noticed in the 117 and 48 vids. There's no cheating involved so I really have a hard time understanding what you mean. To be totally honest, I think you've got some issues you need to sort out. Maybe write a draft for your posts and then re-read it the next day and see if you still want to post it. The last time you threw around your unbased accusations Lutz, Stephan and I quickly provided videos of us playing the tournament board you had questioned our times on and we were easily faster than you. just take Lutz' 122 and my times on Genius as a challenge. 117 is not the limit. Come join me in pushing for sub115 and even beyond.

The 38, 78 and 100 are already explained somewhere else, I think either in the forum or in the mailing list among the still active sweepers. Basically there was an option to cheat in Nono until the latest update. Whichever instances of Nono were started at the same time would have the same seeding for mines and would stay identical over several games. To demonstrate that this was a serious bug I finished these games but of course didn't upload them.

@Stephan, Yariv: I would like to suggest that, should Paulo not come forward with any evidence for his accusations, he gets reprimanded by you and temporarily banned from this community. This is already the second time he makes these claims. During the previous incident he didn't contribute to any kind of discussion of the issue in any constructive manner at all.

@EWQM: Excuses and excuses. You are all about unlegit play and excuses. I just don't understand why you insist not to admit the obvious.

However there are issues related with you that aren't obvious to me, for instance:
A) Who are YOU?
You know that hexx is Paulo but i'm not so sure that EWQM is Fritz! Many times i believe you are Stephan's multiple account.

B) The collusion between the "three musketeers" is so huge that i think it is infact only "one musketeer". In this case, you or Stephan, would play with 3 accounts. Lutz has always been a multiple account, someone is playing by him.

C) Most likely, some players like Caren, Svade, Kimmo, Bobo, Spot, qqwrf, morpheus_303 , Nymike, the infamous "****" etc, are multiple accounts as well. They are used to artificially increase nono website activity, which is almost dead by the way. You may play a role in this situation.

In essence EWQM, i don't know who you are or what is your role in this game, except for one obvious thing. Your scores are as real as a 3€ bank note.

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by EWQMinesweeper on Feb 25th, 2018 at 1:26am
That point before A: Occam's razor: I'm faster than you and legit. Shouldn't be that hard of a pill to swallow for you. I could never beat Kamil at Minesweeper despite being very close at times and beating everyone else by a far margin. And yet we eventually became friends and encouraged each other to keep improving. It's not that difficult. You should definitely give it a try. Just the encouraging and taking it as a challenge part. You don't seem like a perosn I want to be friends with.

A) It's well documented who I am. The nickname EWQMinesweeper has been around for probably 11 years by now. I've made hundreds of posts in this and the minesweeper.info forum, written over a hundred thousand lines of chat in the #minesweeper IRC, loads of youtube videos, an active reddit account, been to and hosted Minesweeper and Nonosweeper tournaments in Munich, Stirling and Zurich. It's honestly solely your fault that you don't know who I am. I have met probably around 30 Minesweeper players in person, some of which who also play or used to play Nonosweeper. Stephan and I have met in person at the 2010 and 2012 Minesweeper World Championships that I hosted in Munich.

In summary in this community there is less doubt of who I am than who you are. Going by transition of who has met whom and Nonosweeper tournaments - and is therefore legit - you are the one who is not known by anyone else.

B) You're not following the tournaments closely enough. Stephan is strong on the faster boards, Lutz is awesome on the difficult boards that take a bit longer but is also a wildcard for most other boards and I'm an allrounder with some particular strengths such as unusual dimensions and boards that are similar to the standard levels or just take very long to solve. The gap between us and the rest is so big because we play a lot more than them. We also seem to be interested in talking about tournament boards and our strategies. Did you actually watch the videos we three posted after your last accusation? Clearly shows 3 different right hands and different setups and computers.

C) Pretty sure that longevity alone dictates that Caren, Bobo and Spot are real. Also Caren has been part of the mailing list for as long as I've been around here. QQ and Mike are legit too. They are known from Minesweeper and I'm friends with both of them, though I haven't met them yet.

My conlusion: Old man yells at could. You've been too inactive and are now completely out of touch. No idea why you are running this agenda but so far you've only been a mild, temporary annoyance who could back up any of their claims.

Also: You still haven't explained the two things you think you have found in my videos.

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2

Oh my goodness >:(, I really hate it to spend time for such useless discussions.

There is little to add to EWQM.'s last posting.

"Multiple account" is probably the most ridiculous accusation we ever had in this forum. Fritz and myself met in Munich 2010, along with other players that competed in Nono WC 2010 (see article on my website for details).

I don't doubt that Lutz, Caren, and many others are real and different persons.

@hexx: EWQM. is just fast. He is much more intelligent than I am, and very fast in handling his mouse, that's why even for me, with 13+ years of Nono experience, it's hard to follow the vids. But this is not a reason to accuse Fritz for cheating. Just to accept the facts.

What about you posting some helpful information about you? Having some photos? Or a FB account? Obviously, you even removed the few information from your Nono profile.

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2

@EWQM: I forgot to ask you something on my last post. It is about these words:

Quote:
Come join me in pushing for sub115 and even beyond.

Are you inviting me to join your restricted elite group where playing under certain rules is considered to be legit?
The answer is: Not interested, i'll keep sweeping under my own rules. I'm old but still can make 1.40s, 10.60s and 48.15s.

@Stephan:

Caren may be a real person but anybody can play with her account by knowing (with her permission) the account code. Lutz is not even a real person.
Another interesting case is Maruda. I just can't imagine Jan Farnik playing all these years.
So, who is the mastermind behind these accounts? Can only be Stephan, maybe EWQM and possibly Yariv himself.
Whoever the mastermind is, soon or later nono website will be permanently down like mallet website is.

You claim that EWQM is "just fast".
But when Fritz participated in Schwandorf Open 2017 he wasn't "that fast". In real life he got modest and honest scores with no medals!
You can find them here:https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/competitions/SchwandorfOpen2017/results/by_person#2011LOHR01
In computer life things are quite different cause EWQM explodes as everybody knows...
These are the facts but who cares anyway!

It's an invitation to stop your bullshit accusations, quit whining and resume playing the standard levels and tournaments, to post your times and to compete with the rest under the same rules as everyone else. However, if you want to stick to your own "rules" in which you are the one and only fastest and legit player, you actively choose to not be a part of this community anymore. You should thus act accordingly and leave us.

You bring up speedcubing. A word of warning here: you're way out of your league arguing here and obviously have no knowledge at all beyond having looked up a few rankings. Speedcubing has a lot more different disciplines and tens of thousands active competitors around the world. There are specialists for every discipline, whereas I'm an allrounder, who is able to compete in every discipline. Most other cubers practice several hours every day whereas I spend about an hour per week solving cubes. Over the years I have made quite a few podiums and a lot of final rounds in cubing. I'm one of the still under 100 people who have joined the unofficial "silver club" in speedcubing, which one achieves by "completing" their WCA profile by successfully comepting in every single WCA discipline, including achieving average of 5 or mean of 3 results wherever possible. Also I'm currently still 365th of the world on the overall ranking among over 90 000 cubers in the WCA database. That's a pretty good ranking, considering the last time I actively practiced for a competition was at the end of 2016.

This is getting kind of ridiculous with you arguing a lost point. Do you really have nothing better to do? If you direct all this time, energy and anger into playing Genius you might have already gotten a 123 or even better.

@Stephan: Any chance you could ban him from this forum?

Actually Hexx I been telling Fritz for years I'm not so sure about you.  Your minesweeper scores were compatible to my, certainly not on Fritz's level, Manuel Heider's and Qq (Michael Gottlieb).  Fritz posted records or close to records on many games similar to these, you only excelled here (and malletmania).  I speak for myself my account is real, my name is Michael Rabich from NYC, hence NYmike.

Don't you even dare to ban me!
There are issues to be solved here and, as a reminder, your misson as moderator failed completly in Mr "****" case plus the fact you collude with EWQM.
In exchange I'll not be so agressive and won't use the word cheat this time.

@EWQM:
I thought you smarter than that. It is possible to evaluate skill by setting a parallel between 2 similar tasks. Cubing (real life) and sweeping (PC life) require the same skills (fast fingers, hand-eye coordination and pattern analysis). However your scores couldn't be more different. How to explain that? The problem is the sweeping task cause you are overrated too much.

Suggestion 1: Stephan bans hexx right away. Case closed.

Suggestion 2: We ask Yariv to make a decision. Refusal to accept his decision to be enough of a justification for a ban because obviously hexx won't accept that he's wrong.

Opinions?

Hi all, it's me, just popping down from my cloud! 8-)
As you probably haven't noticed, I've taken down the Mallet Mania site due to lack of interest, but I'm happy to see that records are still being broken here!

@hexx
I agree with the others that you need to stop making unsupported accusations against the other players. Not only have you not provided evidence for them, but I can't even understand what grounds you have for suspicion other than the fact that some players are substantially faster than you.
As I think someone mentioned, I released an updated version of Nonosweeper a year or two ago so that the duplicate seed exploit could no longer be used. (Test that out if you like.) So I'm clearly not accepting cheating if I find it.
If you have some specific reason or evidence to back up your claims, then please e-mail it to me and I will investigate. (I have access to some non-public information such as IP addresses and how/when the game was purchased, and while I obviously can't pass that on to you I could use it to verify claims.)
Either way, you need to stop posting accusations here or you will be banned. I don't know why you continue to post here anyway if you don't believe ANY of the other posters. Maybe it would be better to just play the game for yourself and retire from the forums?

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by Stephan on Feb 28th, 2018 at 11:40am

@hexx: I am really wondering what your problem is...  >:(

Why should anyone play with Caren's account besides Caren herself?!
Why shouldn't Lutz be a real person?
Why can't you imagine Jan Farnik playing all these years? The same do I, I've playing since 2004, only not submitting T times when I failed to complete a game or was in vacation.
Maruda doesn't play as regular as he did in former times, e.g. he submitted times for only 2 T boards in S84.

Nonosweeper is just a game that is not as present as Minesweeper. So, we have only a small number of competitors in T games.

Standard levels (SL) need time to play regularly. Many of the former regular players seem to have retired fully or just play some T games. So, I can't see a reason why the few players that are still submitting SL times.

And EWQM's explanation about Speed Cubing is very plausible to me. And the skills are definitely similar ones, but anyway different ones. Even in Nonosweeper, required skills are different depending on the board type.

And about my role as Moderator. I'm not a Moderator of this forum. Yariv made me (and some others) Admin in order to be able to delete Spam posts we were flooded with some years ago.
To be an active Moderator, I don't have the time.
So, no banning from my side - but the strong request to you that you, hexx, calm down and stop your accusations as long as they are looking so weird (with having doubts about active players being real persons).

P.S. You didn't reply to my ideas about posting helpful information about you...

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2

@Yariv:
They aren't substantially faster than me. Their PC's are substantially faster than mine. They increase CPU clock speed in order to boost scores.
You should investigate that, but you probably can't detect nothing. Only by watching vids it is possible to see that something doesn't fit.

@Stephan:
I'm calm down. Otherwise i would be talking about your 53s. You aren't a target to me. My real target is EWQM, wanna know why?
I hate him.
I hate him so much.
I hate him so much that i'll use all my "fire and fury" to hunt him down and reveal all his dirties.
This feeling started in s69t2 when he ch**ted on me with that "9.44s" :'(. Over time that feeling is getting worse and worse and worse...

What helpful information about me do you want?

What was the nono version you managed to get the 38, 78 and 100?

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2

@hexx
Final warning. Stick to provable facts or I'm banning you.

Example:
"Their PC's are substantially faster than mine. They increase CPU clock speed in order to boost scores."
This is an assertion of something you cannot know and is not allowed. Similarly any accusations of "cheating". If you started both of those sentences with "I believe" then it would be acceptable in the forum, though you should still be focusing more on any evidence rather than speculation.

"Only by watching vids it is possible to see that something doesn't fit."
This ("something doesn't fit") seems to be rather subjective, but seems to be the closest you have to evidence for your clams, so if you can point me to a specific video and tell me what doesn't fit then I can look into it. If anyone else agrees with hexx that something is suspicious then please let me know. If nobody else can see anything then I suggest, hexx, that you are simply mistaken.

Anyway, three choices:
1) Stop this conversation altogether
2) Discuss evidence ONLY
3) Get banned

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2

@hexx:
Yariv said everything that is important.

But anyway, I invested some time today to try to understand your accusations.
- A 9.44 by EWQM. in S69T2 is surely fast, but without having the video or screenshot, there is no chance to say that this time might have been achieved by cheating. On such boards, the arrangement of the few mines on the large grid decides whether you have a chance to play a very fast time.
- Watched EWQM. late 48.83 and 117.95 (@EWQM.: The link to the genius vid isn't displayed correctly in the forum post). I can't see what you are talking of getting busted and so on. The only things I can see are a) EWQM. has high speed in detecting safe patterns, b) he also needs time to think about next step if patterns are not so obvious any more, c) in the 48 vid, there is room for improvement as some rows/columns are not played "to the end" ideally.
- Don't know what should be the problem with my expert 53.
- Helpful information: We have some former Nono profile e.g. with your name (but info has been removed), some early forum post that tells you're day broker etc. That's all. Google search doesn't offer hardly any helping match that gives evidence. We don't know a photography of yourself, I think. We don't know whether you have some Social Media account.

@Yariv:
After thinking for a while i decided to pick up number 3. Cause “i believe” i can’t ban myself it will have to be you to ban me.
Wait no more and do a lifetime ban on my forum account.

Game over Yariv.

@Stephan:
I do have a FB account. It’s still active despite no activity since 2012.
I don´t have that job anymore but still work in trading business on my own.

How skilled is EWQM? The 9.44s is a boosted time.
It's easy to convert a nonocheetah experience into a nonosweeper legit score. Assuming he played on “Mr ****” scale (1.3), his legit score should have been around 12.25s.
Another example:
EWQM’s 10s(int) and 35s(exp) on Minecheetah can be converted to 20s and 70s on Minesweeper. Because he is so overrated, i estimate he speeded up by a factor of 2.0.

Finally, just to say a few words about my times.
I know you think that i speed up too. But you are wrong. I hereby claim the following:
I have never speeded up my standard levels times (minesweeper and nonosweeper) by whatever means possible”.
Here they are:

Minesweeper:  1s -  19.201s - 74s

Nonosweeper:
          beg     int       exp       gen

Bye Paulo, sorry to see you go. So sad to see the legacy of one of the top Nonosweeper players being tainted and ruined like this. I'd be glad to see you back, should you ever happen to come to reason and apologize to every single person in this community you wronged.

You bringing up Minesweeper again shows once again that you're blind with hatred and/or have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Once again: You really don't do yourself any favours, bringing in Cubing or especially Minesweeper into this. I've gotten a 12 on Int and a 42 on Exp at the 2011 Minesweeper World Championship in Zurich. There was absolutely zero possibility of cheating, using computers in the ETH computer lab and with the other participants sitting around me. The 42 was at that time the world record on Exp for times achieved at tournament. Again: That was the fastest time in the world that was undeniably achieved under circumstances were no cheating at all was possible. As always, you were just throwing dirt, hoping that eventually something would stick. If you only just once did your research first instead of posting this baseless nonsense. All of my Minesweeper records can be found on minesweeper.info in my profile. I dare say my improvement from barely sub100 on exp to once #3 of the world is better documented than that of any other sweeper with by far the most submitted improvements. Besides this, there is my personal archive containing videos of over 99.9& of my finished games, including over 70 sub40s and over 6000 sub50s. Don't forget the youtube videos, contributions to Minesweeper Arbiter, high score verification for the minesweeper.info rankings, discovery of the randomisation seeding bug that affected not only Nonosweeper but was initially found by me in Minesweeper Clone and my article about lucky beginner games, which resulted in the rules for rankings being adapted that beginner games must include at leats one non-random click.

tl;dr: don't bring up Minesweeper against the most legitimate player of that game, if you don't know your facts.

"How skilled is EWQM?"

Better than you on genius, that's for sure. We'll see what happens on Expert, after you're banned and I can play Expert again instead of dealing with this nonsense. (@rest: excuse my smugness here :P)

"Finally, just to say a few words about my times.
I know you think that i speed up too. But you are wrong. I hereby claim the following:
“I have never speeded up my standard levels times (minesweeper and nonosweeper) by whatever means possible”."

Either your reading comprehension is severely lacking or it's intentional neglience. You were never accused of cheating. It was merely noted that among the top players you and Luca Vezzoni (although he retired too early for me to really know much about him) are the only ones who have never backed up their times the way others have, be it by showing up in person to a tournament or showing a video that goes beyond screen capture. Your Minesweeper times are irrelevant here and I'll do my best to make your Exp times on Nono a bit less relevant.

tl;dr: Still less evidence than Stephan, Lutz and I have brought forward, yet there's no accusations of cheating against you. Just huge dissapointment.

"Again, what was the nono version you managed to get the 38, 78 and 100?"

Uhm, how about you answer the countless questions first that you were asked but evaded so far? Guess it's too late for that now. So anyways: Probably the version that was in use before the most recent one. Shouldn't be that difficult to figure out for you, you smart investigator of Nonosweeper records.

"Now you’re more quiet than a dead body. You are just waiting for my ban!"

Exactly. With Yariv and Stephan involved there is no need for me to rush to a reply.

@yariv: Thank you!

Got 2 50s today, one with 85 clicks and a 50.03 with 101 clicks. Then just got a 48.46, 47x3, 48x3, 49x1 now. Video of the recording will be up later this week. Also finally remembered that I can save the replay files. Saved that too, just in case.

47.72 -> 45.89

65 left, 36 right, 101 total clicks at 2.20 clicks/s

https://youtu.be/7CyH94JqwlU

As you can see I took quite a few unforced guesses at the start but it paid out quite nicely with a rather quick and easy finish to the rest of the board.

Just got a 119.75 on Genius and after uploading realized that when switching to a new laptop earlier this year I copied the folder with v1.4 instead of v2.15 -> no replay ;(

Stats: 124 left clicks, 71 right clicks, 195 total clicks, 1.63 cl/s

Great to have you back, EWQM. :) - 119 is still faster than anybody else besides you ever achieved. And you stepped into the current T with a decent time as well, will be difficult to beat :o.

Glad to see you and the others are still around. That tournament time came surprisingly quick within 10 minutes of playing. I found that only playing boards with lots of mines in the top and bottom row and not hesitating to guess helped immensely.

I also just got a 122.74 on Genius with 126 left, 87 right, 213 total clicks at 1,74 cl/s. I probably spent around 5 hours playing Genius since that 119 on monday and only completed 7 games in this time: 122, 131, 137, 140, 140, 144, 146.

I just blew an almost guaranteed WR on genius Level. I lost at 103.98 seconds with only 8 mines left to flag and the rest of the board being just as easy as the start. Certainly would have finished in the 110-112 range. 92 left, 56 right, 148 total clicks at 1.42 cl/s at the point of losing. I lost on a left click solving parts of the bottom row and moved a tiny bit further than intended.

Video will follow soon...

Congratulations, EWQM. :o. 115 is out of reach for me :-/ (and most others as well, I think ;), Lutz, however, could be the exception).

These days, I wanted to test my genius skills a little bit. Got a 195 first which is ridiculous in terms of EWQM.'s times, but also is #4 of my all-time genius times and my first sub-200 since 2007 :D. And a 180.56 afterwards, this is a tied #2 of my all-time genius times 8-).

Finally managed to score sub 20 on INT ( 19.75 sec).

@hexx I don't want to take position on the cheating discussion but you're wrong about this: "morpheus_303" isn't a fake profile. I'm Andreas from Switzerland and met Stephan in Vienna and Fritz in Zurich personally (minesweeper tournaments).

Congrats @morpheus_303 to your sub20. I just visited the forum after some weeks again and found my name ;). And yes, if you are Andreas from Switzerland, I remember you (with a little help from this great historical documentation - oh my god...). Then, you didn't compete in the Nono tournament unfortunately :P.

Thanks Stephan! Yes I'm regretting not to participate in the nonosweeper tournament in Vienna but then I had no idea how this great game works!

Would be nice if nowadays more people would still playing: I'm feeling somehow 10 years behind and the strage thing is I'm not so young anymore :(

Well, it has been quite a few years since I last played this game and to my surprise I haven't slowed down much if at all.

I resumed playing a bit here and there around 2 weeks ago and have since managed a 119 (tied 5th PB) on Genius and just now a 47.76 on Expert (5th PB, previously a 48).

Flag: 33 clicks
Safe: 60 clicks
Total: 93
Clicks/sec: 1.95

Hi Fritz, impressive scores after such a long break!

Daniel:  well done! GEN sub 200 is what I'm looking for:
September 29th 2020 I messed up with the last click
and since then I was to stupid and missed a couple
opportunities, especially in the year 2022.  :'(

greetings also to nikolaj & maruda

Thank you! Also got a 64 on exp last night after a few near misses in the mid-low 60s. Haven't been able to play as much in the last few weeks but the progress has been pretty nice. Also pushing the envelope for "most time between best times" with 12 years between exp PBs (broken earlier this year with my first sub-70). My 2010 int PB will be tough to beat though, especially since I'm not playing it much now.

Daniel: grats! For me, you are clearly player of the year. It reminds me of last year when I had succes, too. But this year is very disappointing  so far... I'm wondering if you can brake the one minute barrier? This would bei huge: my chances are arround 5%, quite unlikely. Regards

I don't think it's likely at the moment, I did lose one that would have been about 62 a few weeks ago but that feels like the limit right now, would need to start getting below 70 more consistently before I'd think sub-60 is possible

I'm sorry, but I don't think I have played nearly enough Nonosweeper compared to how much pratice it took me to reach sub40 on Minesweeper Expert. So, any of my estimations here are likely off by quite a bit.

If compared to other top Minesweeper players, I don't think I'm exceptionally fast at clicking and recognising patterns. Instead, I'm just very consistent at both clicking and finding where to click next, which is why in Nonosweeper Genius level feels less rushed than Expert or Intermediate.

For a rough estimate of what a sub40 on Minesweeper Expert would be like on Nonosweeper Genius I'd guess sub100. For sub30 I'd say sub75.

This site's pool of players is tiny, especially compared to the tens of millions of people who have played a game of Minesweeper at some point and probably thousands of players over the years who have made a serious effort of trying to be fast at Minesweeper. It's more than likely that the fastest Nonosweeper times are still far away from what could be achieved if someone took it as seriously as Minesweeper.

That being said, I just lost a game at 102.54 seconds with 8 unflagged mines and 5 safe squares left. Probably would have been done with 3 or 4 more safe clicks. Unfortunately I got carried away listening to a video playing in the background and clicked left instead of right and hit a mine. It could have been a 106 seconds record...

Thank's Fritz for sharing your interesting though. After my post I made some calculations that lead me to the result that the factor must be between 3.0:3.6 (MW Exp versus Nono Gen). But you go for a factor of just 2.5 what is really low in my opinion.

For MW Exp versus Nono Exp I think it's between 1.1:1.3 but you probably go for 1:1? For both I compared my scores and those of the best players as well: but I have practiced MW around 8000 hours and Nono around 3000 hours but this doesn't change a lot because I reached my limits anyway...:-[

But you got a point that MW is played by 100x (1000x?) more people.

Well done, Fritz!

That's really close to 10: can you tell me about INT playing style (left/right clicks)?

Especially in GEN I find it hard to judge what board is worth trying: high numbers like 8-20 are probably an advantage but made the experience that's also important mines are spreaded well over the board. Can you give me an advice what are promising boards and what percentage you dicide to play?

Title: Re: New personal records vol. 2
Post by EWQMinesweeper on Sep 28th, 2023 at 11:53am
For intermediate the fastest strategy is to not use flags and solve like this:

Solve the outer edges of the board going around in a circle. Use guessing if neccessary. Stick to the same starting point and the same assumptions when guessing in order to solve this without slowing down to think. You are going to lose a lot if not most games this way but if you're trying to be as fast as possible it's worth it. The games you lose this way will be lost early and not cost too much time overall. The games you get to continue past this starting phase will usually be much easier and quicker to complete.

Then solve column by column. It's up to you whether you only use logic for this or make occasional guesses to save a bit of time. The more guesses you make the fewer boards you will win but it might be worth it after coming within a second of your record for the twentieth time.

For genius I usually just look for a solvable outer edge. Some days I only play boards with a solvable top or bottom row and some other days I try to get a board started by guessing one or two safe squares on an outer edge. I don't have any specific strategy for genius beyond the start of the board except that occasionally I remember to not use flags during the last 5-10 seconds of the game to hopefully save a second or two.

Thank's for your advice!

On INT you're answer is like expected! I just checked my 2x18sec vids: one has 60 flags and the the other 62 flags so it's probably no suprise I can't improve. The Problem ist that this is my playing style for about 600 hours an that makes it hard to switch to your complete different (faster) style.

On GEN I remember watching some youtube vids of you where you play exactly the way you discribe. For me the best garanty to solches the board is a promising line somewhere in top as well as on the button (about 1 out of 100 boards) but that doesn't mean these are fast boards. I hate to be forced to but looks I should take more Tisch according your advice! I wish there would be something like 3bv for Nono, too! ;D
