Title: New personal records
Post by Jon on Feb 23rd, 2005 at 3:27pm
I thought it might be an idea to start this thread, so people can announce their new personal records or comment on other people's latest achievements.

Therefore, I'll start by congratulating everyone with their most recent improvements. I see that Yariv tied the genius record. Unfortunately, I managed to swoop past everyone with my 203 game last night ;D

I just have a slight feeling that some of the top guys play a little more expert and intermediate than genius, though. I'm sure many of the best players could get below 200 on a good board. It's nice to have that WR for a while, though 8)

Just keep on improving your times, everyone!

@Andrix: Do you have a screenshot of your WR game (57s)? That would be great. :)
My e-mail address: gerowaelz@vr-web.de, or you upload it on this forum. I think everybody is interested in this game.

Title: :-/
Post by Kire on Feb 24th, 2005 at 7:52pm
It is hard to believe that this 57s are real  :-/
Andrix has 6 at beg. and 77 at int. both on 25.01 and now...what a score! :P

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by gsail11 on Feb 24th, 2005 at 9:19pm
what 57seconds are you talking about??

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Yariv on Feb 24th, 2005 at 9:22pm
I've just removed the 57 seconds as Andrix's scores are too suspicious! :-/
If he can show a screenshot I'll replace it...

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on Feb 25th, 2005 at 3:11pm
I missed Andrix' attempt to get again onto the top with a faked record.

But Jon, congratulations for catching the genius WR! I don't really appreciate the event of having lost another record, but it was very likely to happen, so I was aware of the "risk".

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by gsail11 on Feb 25th, 2005 at 10:39pm
If the Andrix time was valid, he would have defended it on this forum, he obviously cheated somehow. :-/

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Jon on Feb 26th, 2005 at 7:01am
Thanks for the congratulations. It seems like Genius has become my favourite board.

If this Andrix-guy cheated, how do you think he did it? Is it possible to figure out how the URL are coded? I also noticed that his name was in black. Does that mean that he didn't use the PRO-version?

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Yariv on Feb 26th, 2005 at 12:26pm
That's right, players with no information page (and hence black names) are using the freeware version. It also means that I can't contact them because I don't have their e-mail addresses.

It MAY be possible (though very difficult) to figure out some parts of the URL coding by looking at it, but more likely people have been using hacking tools to mess about with the program while it's running. It's been done before and the guy told me how. :o
Still, I have other ways of telling whose scores are likely to be genuine, so please let me know if/when more suspicious scores come up!

If any hackers fancy hacking Nonosweeper and uploading fake times to prove it, please let me know when you've done so so I can remove them! :P

WOHOO: Just got 20s on Int ;D
Now I'm on place 1 in the Single Record Rankings and place 2 in the Unweighted Totals. It's really great, to be on top of a list. :)

Congrats to all other record breakers, especially Kire who got 5 1s games on Beg. ;)

You are the first and only one who is greeting me after my six 1s since 19.02
Congratulations on your great achievements too!

Congrats to Gero, Kire and other record breakers.

Now I have 203,204 and 205 seconds on genius. Maybe I can break 200 soon.

Good luck breaking your records, people 8)

"Still, I have other ways of telling whose scores are likely to be genuine, so please let me know if/when more suspicious scores come up!"

Well, the hacker has struck again! This time, not quite so subtle! Andrzej must have had fast fingers to achieve a one second in intermediate!

BTW, I'm working on producing a fake score using the URL source (for curiosity's sake). Iv'e made progress, but I'm working toward submitting a fake beginner 11, so you won't need to worry about me! I'll tell you if I am succesful.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by gsail11 on Mar 5th, 2005 at 1:09am
Victory is Mine!

Or as Yariv so eloquently put it:

Time uploaded successfully.
Your score of 11 seconds is in position 268 of 1794.
You already have a better time in the table.

I successfully uploaded a totally bogus,  never played, 11 second begginer time.

I did it with this code:
http://www.nonosweeper.com/cgi-bin/uploadtime.cgi?name=Gavin%20Bauer&data=1D343B2A6B4C71522E32297E4429427F455356

You are, however somewhat safe, because I played four eleven second games, before making that one, so it would be nearly impossible for a completely random person to fake a 1 that way. It would, however, be possible for someone who has actually gotten three or four 1's, to fake the last few. A rather scary thought if you ask me.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Yariv on Mar 5th, 2005 at 1:24am

Hmph. >:(

Can't be helped, I suppose - still, I won't worry until someone can upload a score that they haven't previously got to a Pro account.

As Gavin says, it would be possibe to cheat by filling extra 1s, but if someone can get a couple of them to start with then they could surely have got more anyway... so far more people have got 1s (7) than have successfully hacked the game (4, to my knowledge - only Gavin with Pro) so its an achievement in itself! ;)

No software is 100% hacker-proof so I can only urge people to have the decency not to cheat - if you hack, let me know!  ::)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by gsail11 on Mar 5th, 2005 at 1:39am
Also, I don't want to be regarded as a hacker or anything, I don't know the first think about hacking. I just beat beginner over and over, saving all of the codes so I could compare and analyze. I doubt any serious hacking/cheating will be coming that way.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Mar 5th, 2005 at 11:52am
Nearly got 19s today. The timer went over from 19 to 20 and very short after that I finished. S***. >:(
But I got my second 20s. ;D

2. rank I'm coming. Be careful Roland. ;)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Kire on Mar 5th, 2005 at 5:00pm
@Gero: You dont have your exact time because is kind of boring to click hundreds of times the ok button for closing the window,do you?Yeah,I understand, its not easy to break records ;)

@Gavin: I want to inform you that the players who achieved several 1s on beginner are deeply attached to nono and will never cheat. If I do,for example, I shall stultify the long days and nights, spent in breaking records and having fun with this great game.So I trust the others and dont bother for these things ;)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Jon on Mar 10th, 2005 at 5:38pm
Congrats to Luca for tying my Genius record. Being the first under 200 seems to be a though race.

How I start Genius games? I tend to start with the first or last column (sometimes row) if most of it can be figured out easily. Then I just search for easy patterns. When there are no more easy patterns, I solve the hard ones.

Title: 19.34s at Intermediate
Post by hexx on Mar 15th, 2005 at 2:25pm
WOW! :o

After 7 21s i was desperately chasing 20s.
Unexpectly i got 19.34s. ;)

Very cool! :D

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Mar 15th, 2005 at 3:15pm
After I saw, that you got 19s I played int, too. I also got nearly 19s, but with the last click I missed it.  :'( That's really ****** up.

But congrats to you and of course to  Luca and Roland with their 68s.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Jon on Mar 15th, 2005 at 4:06pm
Congrats to hexx and all other record breakers. Today I missed a great opportunity to sub-200 on genius. 188 seconds and 10 squares left. I miss a VERY easy pattern :-/

There was only four more mines, and I had to hit one of them. Would probably have been about 195 seconds if I had been properly focused there. The race continues...

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Luca on Mar 15th, 2005 at 5:01pm
I'm triyng to tie the 19 too
I was very very next to it.
But I think it is very hard for me..

Congratulations to Luca's 200! So, I have to give up in the race that I'll ever get back the Genius WR... And the day will come where anybody beats my 63 in Expert. We'll see how long it takes :)

@ Luca: The only thing I can say is:

WOW, I'm really impressed. :D

For some weeks I thought I'm the best player in world (together with you)... it was a nice dream. :'(

So congrats to the best player! :)

Thank you very much!
Yesterday evening I had 4 sub-70 in less than 10 minutes...

I wonder if it happens to you too:
are there some days in which you do nice scores in succession?

p.s. Gero, your intermediate 16 will remain in the history of nonosweeper for long timre!

Congrats to Luca for his 200 seconds on genius. I haven't played Nonosweeper the last 3-4 weeks, so I might not be able to take back that record.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Luca on Apr 15th, 2005 at 4:44pm
Yesss,
They were some days that I was trying to equalize or beat Stephan record.
At least I did it! (62.89)
ten minutes before I missed another 62 with a missclicking the last bomb.

p.s. kestha, what a nice times for a new member!

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on Apr 15th, 2005 at 5:54pm
I would have preferred you just equalizing my record. But you deserve it, so congratulations!

So, after I've lost my last world record, I could retire, couldn't I? Just a joke, I'll probably continue to play...

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Apr 15th, 2005 at 6:56pm
WOW, WOW, WOW. :o

I'm so impressed. Your the absolutly best player. There are no doubts about that. :)

And you even improve your times although there isn't a competitor. Really INSANE!!!

You have now 10 sub-70's or even more?

I'm not playing Nono currently, but Mallet Mania. But I'm pretty sure that I will start playing Nono again, when i finished school. And I hope I will get close to you again. ;)

@Roland: Sorry for this late post. Yeah, the student overtook his teacher. That's right. But because I'm not playing now it's your turn again, to attack the first place (to attack Luca). ;)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Luca on Apr 16th, 2005 at 4:20pm
Thank you to all
But I think that at least the 5 best players in the ranking could equalize or overtake my scores.
expecially hexx: his tournament times demonstrate it

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on Apr 18th, 2005 at 6:11pm
Yes! After months without a personal record I finally could achieve a 21 in intermediate. So, Luca, watch out carefully *lol*

More impressive than the time itself is the fact that I played totally non-flagging (as I do regularly since T05 of season 2). After some practising, I'm still getting faster and could at least beat my old record!

Anybody out there who has a faster time in intermediate with pure non-flagging? I think that most players' style is a mixture of both, isn't it?

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Roliamant on Apr 18th, 2005 at 8:04pm
51x21s and just another 19s with a mixture of both. :) Congratulations for your new record. I'd be glad to see you back in the Top Three. Including me of course.   ;) :P So keep the new speed and spirit.
Roliamant

P.S.: And congrats for Luca for all the other records. You're way out of reach...

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Luca on Apr 19th, 2005 at 2:13pm
I achieved a 19 non flagging but usually my tecnique is a mix

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Apr 19th, 2005 at 3:49pm
Words are missing for your constant improving. Nearly every week one or two new good times. So I only say:
Congrats. :)

Btw, the 61 isn't mentioned in the Records History. Must be a mistake.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by hexx on Apr 20th, 2005 at 5:07pm
ONLY JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

I can not believe.... 8)

16.50
... OK, I'm believing now. ;D

I wasn't playing Intermediate since my 19s, managed on March 15th.

The game itself was easy and luck did the rest.

I started at right bottom corner, swept up (lucky with the 3 and the 3-2) and didn't flag, except the 10.

It was the crucial moment because i used it as a reference.

P.S. Gero, what has your 16s been.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Apr 20th, 2005 at 5:20pm
Wow, congrats hexx. :)
And even faster than i did. Mine was 16,73s. But I flagged. I left out only the last 4 mines.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on Apr 20th, 2005 at 7:25pm
Congrats to Luca's 61 and to hexx' 16. Both are impressive.

But I was lucky as well: I did a nice 19.87 in intermediate, again non-flagging. So, I'm at least #5 now and finally, I am part of the exclusive sub-20 club. Yep!

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Roliamant on Apr 20th, 2005 at 7:52pm

Im getting faster (66.34).
Let's see if i will be the fastest. ;)

Post by Luca on Apr 21st, 2005 at 3:54pm
Very congratulations to Stephan and Hexx!!
I said that Hexx probably was the one who for first will overtake me..
His recent scores make me more sure of it

By the way I thought that 16 was a very very good time and very very hard to equalize. Hexx was lucky yes, but he was also very fast and didn't miss the nice board. So congrats again

NICE, isn't it?  It is also my first "nonorecord".
I think i have tons of reasons to be happy. ;D

P.S.1- I bet that Luca will play Intermedite in the next couple of days.
P.S.2- Very odd. Every time i think i can't beat a record, i break it. Do you guys have the same sensation?  ::)

@hexx: How about downloading camtasia and making some vids of your great playing? It shouldn't be a problem for you to play 17s while recording. That would be nice.

Here is the link, where you can download a trial of camtasia:
http://www.techsmith.com/download/studiodefault.asp

Just download the evaluation version and record some good games you play. That would be really nice. You can send your vids to my e-mail: gerowaelz@vr-web.de

Gero,

I'm aware of camtasia and many other screen recorders.
Usually i do not record because it affects my playing rhythm and is boring to make and editing it. :P
I will do it when i feel that can't improve my sweepping skills and scores.
I've just performed another 15s (15.53), and don't have the video. :-/

The only thing i want in the next couple of days is a 14s. ;)

P.S. Just check out Strategy and hints thread.

I know, my scores on Int are horrible. I have only this 16, 20x5, rest 21s in my top10 list. I tried to play like you told in your strategy, but I'm not able to finish fast with NF-style. I don't know why. It really goes on my nerves to see you getting better and better times on int, and I still have this lousy average score. I'm happy that I have such a "good" (but really lucky) score for the rankings which are not based on average of top5.
When I play NF, i finish in 40s+. But I don't finish very often. It's so depressing. Argh!!!

WOHOO, just set a new personal NF record: 31s. If one of you would have got this board, I bet you would have scored a 15s or something like that. :-/

The beginnig, to go round the board is of course no problem. That's easy. But mostly I guess wrong. And if I got that the most difficult part is waiting to be solved.

With my strategy i estimate it would be 14s or 13s or even 12s, believe me, i know what i'm saying.

Just calm down, it is easier than you think. Achieving 15s is a piece of cake. ;)

27 and 28 are the best times i got NF. A few 30's and rest 40's. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. :-[

Yeah, just got 22s NF (Not good for you, I know, but still...). Perhaps I'm able to get such low scores as you got. I really hope. Otherwise I have no chance to be under top3 again.

One more post, sorry, but...

I can't believe!!!! I practised yesterday NF, and today i got this 19s. ;D (NF of course)
I got for a long time now no new int score. Fantastic! :)

I can only say: Thank you hexx (and sorry again) 8)

This is my third modify of this post, but I'm just so happy. Scored a 18 NF ;D

164 - superb time, grat.
But I think, it´s possible to beat it. I´ve got 170 with "last click mistake".

ARRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm soooooooooooooo stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I missed 14s on last click. And it was very easy to see where I had to open the square. >:(

I have no idea why i clicked there.

I even made a vid of this s h i t!

And yesterday i missed two 17s on last click.

Mail me your s h i t video, i want to laugh a little bit. ;D

@Maruda: Nice improvement. Congrats to your new scores, you got today (and you will get). I think Stephan must be careful, otherwise you'll overtake him in WR.
Do you play Int NF, too?

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on May 31st, 2005 at 10:39am
If Marude overtakes me, congratulations. But I don't really care any more, I play nonosweeper mostly for fun (and partially with the purpose not to drop out of the Top10...)!

Congrats to Gero for his amazing Genius record. I managed my first sub-200 today with 190,76 seconds. I forgot to bring the URL, so I haven't uploaded it yet, but the screenshot is on my home site:

http://www.jontrans.0catch.com

I even tied my expert record three minutes later.

After trying for months, today I finally got a sub200 on genius... 190 seconds.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Maruda on Jun 1st, 2005 at 12:29pm
Gero: Thks. I think that NF is the only way to get a good time...

Stephan: Maybe You should improve Your Genius times ;)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on Jun 2nd, 2005 at 10:49am
@Maruda: I know that, of course, but playing Genius takes too much time a) to finish a board and b) to get a fast board. During the summer, there are only few reasons to stay at the PC whole afternoons or evenings to improve one's Geinus times ;-).

So, it's more likely that I will drop out of the Top10 than that I improve my record.

Title: Re: New personal records

History has been made!!!!

Guys, let me introduce you the first of it's kind.

The first sub-60s

55.37

P.S.1 - Luca, say something. You said once, that i would achieve 52s. Well, 55.37 is not that far!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
P.S.2 - MAN, i'm really happy. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

... and 61.25, 61.34, 61.46 and 61.53.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Jun 6th, 2005 at 2:48pm
Well, I'm first:

Congrats to this really great and impressive score. I thought a while ago that sub60 is impossible. But you didn't got a bad sub60 but even a score right in the middle of the 50's. WOW!!! :o

Hm, perhaps sub50 is possible, too. What do you think, hexx? Do you have a special tactic for expert again? Or just sweeping like hell? ;)

I see, I have to play expert again. But my computer is currently away, because it must get repaired. Hope I get it back soon. Don't want ot miss a tourny after I'm under top3.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on Jun 6th, 2005 at 9:31pm
@hexx: Congratulations! Nearly five months after I achieved my 63 (which was kind of unbelievable at that time), you entered a new dimension. With 1-12-55, you would even get a decent rank in a MINEsweeper ranking (I never thought that this will be possible)!

Btw, with the exception of Maruda, you're the only one of the top players who uses an real-name-hiding user name. Will you sometimes reveal your real name? Would be very sympathetic, Hector (?? - just a possibly stupid guess ;D)!

Title: Re: New personal records

@Gero:

Sub50s!
Hmmmm, i don't know. :-/
There is a chinese adage that says:" A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step" and i have just performed a "500 miles step", which means a "step bigger than my own legs"!!!!!
So far, i can assure you that 57s or 58s are achivable. 55s was a full and pleasant surprise. :D

P.S. WACHT OUT!!!!
Genius level is the next CLIENT, and my main goal is to find 1 mine per second, in short, i want to do 148s. ;)

@Stephan and all of you:

I dont have any intention to keep my real name secret, i just use the nickname hexx on everything related to the web. Phonetically sounds good and is easy to memorize.
Here is my profile:
Name: Paulo Justo
Age: 30
Citizenship: Portuguese
Job: Day trader (stock market investor)
Hobby: Nonosweeping
Minesweeper records: 1-22-74

P.S. What about making 15s or 16s on intermediate, it would be nice!  :)
I saw your 22s video and noticed that you swing too much. Just do as i said: sweep edges first and then sweep rows using edges to get info.
But there is more, 1s would be nice too. When i visited your website i noticed that you still don't have 1s (Nono and Minesweeper ???). I believe it is a tactic issue. In just 2 weeks (2 hours daily) it is possible to achieve both scores. What do you think, Stephan? (After this you can enjoy the sun, chicks and alcohol!!!!!!!!)

Title: Re: New personal records

Congratulations to you Hexx!
I think you are a little bit faster than us, but not so much as 6 sec from me and 13 from gero, exc

Tournament demonstrate this (I had 6,54 in T5 but for technical problems I couldn't upload it)
So someone will go under 60

I play without thinking but I think you study before playing.. your new strategies demonstrate this

congratulations again
I said that you would be the first

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on Jun 7th, 2005 at 3:45pm
@hexx: Thank you, Paulo! Interesting that you're 30. I always thought you guys must be pupils or students according to the time you seem to play nonosweeper each day. I'm 28, and after working 8 hours each day with a PC, I don't really enjoy sitting several hours in front of a PC again in the evenings...

About my 22: I hate guessing. So, I make guesses in the first row, and afterwards play by logic in 99% of the cases. Sometimes, this is fast, sometimes not. But I prefer having a logically solved 19 than a lucky guess 16. And your strategy of starting with all edges is good and fast, but seldomly to be solved without a lot of luck with the mines' positions. So, I need to much games until I find one where all edges are obvious...

About my 2s: In Minesweeper, I tried for several years and got a 2.06 as personal best. For a long time, I played the old MS version where you need a good board AND the luck of the time jump not happening.
In Nonosweeper, I tried again, but I need too much time in the start, so even if there is a good mine arrangement, I'm likely to need the 2 seconds. But I don't care a lot. I mostly like nonosweeper due to its challenging idea, and I don't really see that challenge in beginner level.
And, finally, I prefer enjoying sun, chick and alcohol right now, not in a few weeks. So, 2 hours daily for 2 weeks are way too long.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Jun 7th, 2005 at 4:58pm
Should I be happy or sad? ???

It was a 14,17s, so nearly 13s and I played it on the computer of my parents, so I don't have a vid.

But still... it's nice to have such a good score. ;D

Btw, I finished school, so I have a LOOOOOOOOT time now to play Nono and other games. So be careful, I'm coming to get new #1! ;)

@hexx: Not bad times in Minesweeper for the fact that you don't like this game very much. :)

Title: Re: New personal records

Yeahh!!!

Achieving 14s is a nice sensation, isn' it Gero? ;)
Today i did 13.78 and last week i did 13.89. ;D
Mail me the screenshot or post it in the forums.

You are the one who can save me! :-/
I have been experiencing problems with camtasia.
I want to record my genius games, but the game gets so slow and flagging is a nightmare that gameplay is next to impossible. (I'm using a 590x540 pixel area with 8 frames capture per second)
What can I do? >:(
I'm doing something wrong? ???

P.S. Who said i don't like Minesweeper!!!!!
I love the game, my problem was that at the time i got fed-up. :P

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Jun 7th, 2005 at 5:37pm
Of course, it's always nice to get a new record. ;D

But I love vids and I don't have one of this game. That's my major problem. :(

You use a fixed region for recording, right? Record with the window option. Sometimes it will be too small then you must stop recording and start it again so the window gets bigger. If you record like this I think the size of your vid is smaller and so the computer should be faster while recording. Try that out. If it doesn't help I cannot help you until I haven't got my computer back. Don't know how long I must wait for it.

Minesweeper: I think it was in a pretty early post of you where you said something like that. But I'm not sure anymore.

Well, I really hope that I'm able to save you, but I'm not too sure. And if Luca would play (any)more he would have the chance to save you, too.
What's up Luca? Why not thinking about your decision once again and change it? ;D

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Jun 8th, 2005 at 9:43am
WOHO: 2nd 14s!!! ;D

But again very close to 13s (14,09s) and again no vid. >:(

But when I have 13sx5 vids I don't need 14s vids anymore. ;)

@hexx: I have too much time, so I searched for your post in the forum where I thought you said you don't like Minesweeper. It's in the 1 second time? section on the first page. You just say that Nono is much more better than it's cousin Minesweeper. Somehow I thought you dislike Minesweeper. Don't ask me why. :)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by hexx on Jun 8th, 2005 at 2:37pm
@Gero:

Keep practicing Intermediate because you may achieve 13s.:o

I will post my Expert strategy tomorrow afternoon aroud 7 o'clock p.m. (Portuguese time: GMT-1)
Then you can practice Expert as well. :D

About Minesweeper - Let me be clear, i like both games, but if i have to choose one i would vote for Nonosweeper because it is more complex in terms of pattern recognition. Minesweeper patterns are not that challenging, in fact they play identically on Bigginer, Int and Expert levels. To summarize, Nonosweeper is the game of my life time. ;)

Thanks Hexx for revealing your expert strategy as well. At the moment I still use my old style, since I don't know what to do after finishing the right part and the left part sucks. Also I just finished a 13.00. :) With a stupid doubt at the end :( It's a sin!!!

P.S.: Oh, and a 14.02 and a 15.08 afterwards...

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Jun 11th, 2005 at 7:03pm
What you can do Roland, can I do, too! ;D

Mine was a 13,98. So pretty close to 14. But after my 14x2 which were so close to 13 I think it's just fair.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by hexx on Jun 12th, 2005 at 10:57am
@Roland:
Very well Roli. This time you were really fast.
What is 0.01s! it is nothing, total emptyness!!!!!!. The 13 is ;D but the double zero is  :P. Personally i don't like .00 i would prefer .03 or .10 .

About Expert: My approach to this level is not a surprise, i'm sure that you guys use to play the same way.The difference is that by using sectors and once they are finished you don't need to go there anymore!!!!!

About what to do with center and left sectors:
Center sector- Keep using C and D as new mined blocks are being revealed, it is not rare to "clean-up" all center sector this way. For instance, i used C and D on the missed 47s shot at the strategy post to left out  the small "square" to be swept.
Left sector- Try to mimic right sector using mirrored STEP1.

P.S. 1- At the same time you did 13.00000000000000000000s  i managed 12.23s , my new personal record!!!!!! ;)
P.S. 2- Mail me the 13s shot if you please.
(and mail me any other interesting Intermediate scores you may achieve in the future)

@Maruda:
Well done, 66s is a great score, did you use my strategy or your own?

@Gero:
First, with Maruda's and Roland's latest scores you are now ranked #6 on Expert. Quite honestly, you can do better than 68s and if you tied Roli's 13s .......
Second, i tried out the video tips you said a few days ago and still have the same problems. It is very annoying.>:(
I have just mailed you 2 videos that show exactly the problems i'm facing.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Jun 13th, 2005 at 1:30pm
13,23s!!! ;D
I could have got 12s if I wouldn't had been a bit slow in the beginning. But 13 is ok, too. :)

@hexx: Could you perhaps make an example vid for your exp strategy? I don't understand your explanation 100%, so it would help. Or do you have the same problemds like on genius? I don't know what you could change. Perhaps less frames/sec.

Title: Re: New personal records

Argh, Gero. Get back to school kid.  :P Or get a job. You have way too much time. I have to learn for my diploma exams and don't have the time to chase you all the time. Congrats anyways,

YES: 64,95!!! ;D

It was a really perfect game. Very easy. And it was played with my own strategy. :) But I'm sure it isn't far away from hexx's.

@Roland: I had to learn for school pretty much the last weeks, so I think it's ok,  when I'm now playing so much.
Good luck for your diploma exams.

Hip hip hooray - after a long disappointing time, I've "learned" hexx's intermediate strategy. So, after getting 20x3 and 21x3 today, I got a new best 19 (19.57), before - right in the next game - I smashed away my old record by achieving a nice 16.93. So, I'm "best of the rest" again, which makes me glad :-).

Congrats to Gero as well - please do not cross my 61 in expert ;)

@Gero: You got me. I'm ill these days, so maybe my memory is out of order as well. Congrats for tying my expert score. So, now, you can do any time you want as you're in front me anyway...

@hexx: I'm ill, so no alcohol these days. And there is not much sun in Munich today. And no chicks in my room ;). Maybe you're right and I should try to get a 1 in beginner.

Title: Re: New personal records

My computer must be repaired again, so I tried non-flagging style on Expert at my parents computer. I completed 4 games (I didn't play too long, after a while it got boring) with following times:

1. 273
2. 276
3. 292
4. 337

My first finished game was even the fastes one.
Did anybody tried the same? If yes, what scores did you get?
I think I won't try the same for genius. ;)

10s is not impossible, like the missed 10s (or low 11s) screenshot shows, however with my last Intermediate achievement i close a chapter, no more Int this "season". I will restart playing it on September.  :D

A well-trained eye immediately notice that the 11s grid is not a spectacular easy one, although it is very interesting.
Lets see a few details:

1) I "guessed" 1 time - top row;
2) ... and "thought" 1 time - 3rd bottom row;
3) Did 23 clicks, curiously an high number. All my seven 12s were finished in less than 23 clicks except the 12.90 (24 clicks);
4) The grid has no really large unmined blocks, but  has 4 unmined blocks with 4 boxes which means that i swept 16 squares in a blink of an eye!!!!!!!!!!
5) Didn't "swing", literally speaking, because i took the shortest sweeping path to this particular game.

In conclusion, by not swinging it is possible to save a lot of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My next goal is Genius, today i did 189.10s, a poor for me score because i already have 5 sub-180. :o
I will start on july, 2 hours a day, 5 days a week and 147.99 is my goal. I do not have a clue if it is possible to achieve this score.  :D

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Jul 2nd, 2005 at 12:45pm
That's nice: I got in a row 63,67,65. 8)
Since I started playing Exp again (I have my computer back :D), I get around 3 or 4 sub-70's every day. And higher than 79s I normally don't play. It is really fun, to play Exp again.

I'm sure, hexx and Luca get more sub-70's every day, but I'm content with my stats. :)

Happy sweeping all

YES, it is possible to improve and i'm almost sure i can break the 148s barrier! ;)

By the way, do you have the vids of yours 164s and 177s?

Sorry, but I don't record anymore. Sometimes it feels like recording is slowing me down during playing (wow, a lot -ing endings :P). So I stopped recording completely.

Today I lost some good games so my best was "only" 197s. Well, improvement for me is in any case possible.

Happy sweeping all!

But i needed to move down because i started at right top corner, which means i wasted  0,20s/ 0.30s to get there!!!!!!

My Genius strategy is quite simple:
I'm now memorizing almost every row patterns that have at least a 7 , this way i can find mines where nobody else can! 8)
And just for today i'm gonna play with the same pace i play Expert to see if i can speed up my scores. ;)

This post is under the topic "New personal records", because I never had such a shitty day like this. I missed so many good chances today that's absolutly record-like!!! >:(

I missed:
  - 13s for current tournament after hours of playing, not after 5min
  - 170s on last click for genius
  - 2 genius boards, where maximal a forth was missing with a pretty low time
  - Another good board, where I could have got a time in the 170's (or was it yesterday? I fail a lot currently, when I have good chances :'()

Well, just wanted to tell you of my "great record". Haha :'(

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Jul 25th, 2005 at 5:38pm
One for my missing list:

Just missed 12s on Int. Argh!!! :'(

+ 166s on genius (last click of course, what else?)

5 sec less and i'll fulfill my goal! ;)

152.93

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Jul 30th, 2005 at 3:35pm
Nice score. Congrats hexx. This is nearly 1 click/sec.
0,93sec less and you did it.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by hexx on Jul 30th, 2005 at 3:43pm
Sorry Gero, you are mistaken! ???

Genius level has 148 mines, so 1 click/sec means that you have to finish the game in 148s. ;D
This is why i want to manage 147.99s. :o

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Jul 30th, 2005 at 4:25pm
Sorry hexx, but you're wrong. I always wondered why you talked of 148s barrier. It's the 152s barrier you mean. :)
Genius level has 300 fields with 148 mines. That means 152 fields to open. So if you have a score of 152sec, you opened exactly one field per second.

Btw, if you play Beg, do you record? If you should really get 0s, i want to see the vid!!! And missclicking and -flagging shouldn't be a problem with this small size.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by hexx on Jul 30th, 2005 at 4:53pm
Well, we are both rigth! :o

Confused! I explain. ;D

JUST FORGET MY LAST POST, OK. :P

There is a misunderstanding  between 2 different concepts: Click/sec and Mine/sec.

My Genius goal is to break 1 mine/sec barrier, this explains the 147.99s. ::)

Now I think it is all clear, right? ;)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Jul 30th, 2005 at 4:56pm
Hehe, i didn't thought of this possibility. :)

But i think your concept is better. With this concept we'll get lower times. ;D

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by hexx on Jul 30th, 2005 at 5:14pm
... and i forgot to say:

I am not going to play Beginner this season no more, and in middle September i will restart playing and RECORD my 0s odyssey because i think i can make IT  :D and that video will be awesome!!! 8)

Meanwhile, i did 3x1s last Thursday: 1.65, 1.94 and 1.95 .

The 1.65s game was a remarkable score because it needed 4 clicks to be solved!!!!!  ;D

My hands are still shaking. Puh, what a game. But no new WR. >:(

No, I'm happy that a got this really great score. ;D

And I have the Vid of this game!!! I think, I'll start recording genius generally. In this level recording can't slow me so much down.

Yes, I'm happy with this new record. Everybody who wants the vid, please tell me.

My e-mail: gerowaelz@vr-web.de

And i just my fastest expert game: 63,21. A 62 would have been nice, but that's ok, too. ;D

Second modify: New Int record: 13,17 :-/ 12 would have been really nice!!!

Yahooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

A new Exp record was waiting for me, I knew it. I had several chances to get such a nice score (5 best score ever played). Finally I made it. Yes.

It was exactly 60,26, so not too far away from a sub-60, but I'm content with this score. :D

57,60!!!!! ;D

3rd sub-60 in Nono. It's a great feeling to belong to that short list of people. :D

It was a have hour before midnight and I was even a bit tired. After I didn't got a better tourny time I thought I could play Exp again. It was a good idea! ;D

PS: Screenshot is added in screenshot section.

Why couldn't I get this score on 13th August? That would have been really cool!!! :)

But still... I'm the first who has got two sub-60's. That's great. ;D
And I passed Luca in WR. ;D

Title: Re: New personal records

And my 3rd sub-60: 59,29!!! ;D

I hope I'll beat hexx's 55s soon. ;)

I the end I leaved pretty much fields unflagged. But it was pretty easy to play the rest NF.

Ah, and post #100!!! :D

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

15.33

5th player beating 16s barrier!!!

3s intermediate improvement!!!  :o :o :o

I had hard time in the bottom row, revealing middle 2-mine block lasted really long, certainly more than 2secs.

Oh, and Gero grats to 100th post and 3rd sub-60! ;)

Title: Re: New personal records

Vienna Champion says ( ;)):

No, I'm not sick. But after Vienna I like playing Minesweeper again, too.
Also I like more playing the levels for the rankings instead of Tourny boards. And this one I really don't like.

4th sub-60, what shall I say?
After I got this nice score, I began to record again and recorded a 61 and a 62. I hope I record soon a sub-60 to show the world. ;) 8)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Aug 25th, 2005 at 11:01am
After I recorded 61 and 62s yesterday I got a 60,12s, which I recorded. Then I missed a 58s on last click. :(

But then I got my 5th sub-60: 59,71s!!! ;D

And I recorded the game. 8)

An average time of 57,8 should be possible. And still I hope to break the Exp WR soon...

Some stats for those who are interested:
I have over 300 sub-80's. 103 sub-70's. 5 sub-60's.

My top 10 list for Exp is the following:

57, 58, 58, 59, 59, 60, 60, 60, 61, 61

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Aug 30th, 2005 at 10:24am
I didn't thought that this is possible. But the 59s I uploaded is special, because I began with the top row (11-1). I guessed right, played the rest and got this score.
Normally I even don't play those boards (where I can start only with a row. I think it's much more faster to play with columns), because it's hard to finish them. Now I got a sub-60 on it. Nice!!! :D

Btw, 7th sub-60. The rest of my top 10 is filled up with 60s. ;D

Today was really an unbelievable Nono day for me:

First I got 59x2. Never got 2 sub-60's in one day before.
After that I got a 57, I was happy couse I did a new top 5 game.

Until then I always recorded in the wrong time, so I had no vids of the 3 sub-60's.

And now...... 53,81s!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

4 sub-60's in one single day. And the best one, I recorded. 8)

I can only say:

Happy sweeping, I'm happy, because sweeping makes me happy! :D

btw, I have 11 sub 60's now ;D

47,31

5 days at military service, 2 days at home were enough for me, to break the sub-50 barrier. YAHOOOOOOO!!!!
And of course before that, lots of weeks and months.
And in 1 hour I have to leave home again to go back to my barracks.

I'm so happy.

I'm the first human, to sub-50 in Nonosweeper!!!

This feels crappity smackin' cool! ;D

11.10.2004, 21:46 Beginner solved in 25 seconds (very first game at all)
11.10.2004, 21:58 Intermediate solved in 167 seconds (very first int game)
11.10.2005, 22:46 New personal intermediate record!

Today, exactly one year and 48 minutes after my first finished nonosweeper intermediate game, I was able to set a new personal record: small improvement 15.21 -> 15.10 :D

It definitively was a good board (I needed only 23 clicks), but the special thing to mention is that I played hexx-like strategy of clearing the outer rows and columns and had to guess all four of them :o (screenshot already on my site)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Oct 22nd, 2005 at 9:48am
1. Congrats Luca. You are unbelievable. Your Int times are really impressive. I would really like to see the screenshot of this game.

2. I was really disappointed when I came back last friday and saw that there was not a single re-post concerning my sub-50. I thought a sub-50 would cause more reactions. ???

Ok, my post was perhaps too showy. This might be true. But I posted this way, because I played the last 3!! months intesive Exp to get this score. And Luca and hexx were even close to this score, too. So i was really happy and excited when I got this score.
So if it was my way I announced my record... sorry. :-/

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Roliamant on Oct 22nd, 2005 at 3:11pm
Congrats Gero!!!  8) Maybe your post was a bit too showy but also it was worth it. I simply didn't reply, because I was so shocked, giving up my possibility to get new records. This score is way beyond my imagination and it really demotivated me. Also my time for other stuff than university slips away faster and faster. :( Also congrats to Luca, I'd like to see the screenshot as well. Strange that the actual tournament score is worse than the intermediate WR. You guys don't put effort in it, eh?!  ;)

Just to inform that i improved my NF record on expert to 72.93s :o and got a few good scores too. 8)
My TOP 5 scores are:
#1- 72.93  in  76  clicks;
#2- 81.68  in  78  clicks;
#3- 82.14  in  69  clicks;
#4- 82.60  in  75  clicks;
#5- 83.20  in  68  clicks.

Other relevant facts:
A) With 72.93s, i was fast enough to enter in the TOP 10. ;)
B) I completed a game in 60 clicks but the final score - 108.23s - wasn't that good. :P
C) I finished 47 games, so far. :D

Hey, I flag everything except beginner just like you, and i'm in division 1. (don't think i'll be lasting long there, but at least i got there, right? :) ) I guess i could do much better if i trained to do without flags, but i'm just not that patient.

I improved yesterday from 5-29-132 to 3-22-125!  ;D

my new intermediate strategy is the blue smiley technique - no clearing, just flag all and click blue.  It worked for this week's tourney so I tried int on it too.

beg and exp; I just got faster I guess from playing lots of minesweeper and nono tourney; it was the first time I tried the three standard levels in a month!

YAHOOOO 62.90!!! Gotcha Stephan  :P. Ultra easy board - I made only 101 clicks  :o

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by hexx on Apr 1st, 2006 at 11:34am
Hey, 101 clicks Nikolaj.

What do you think of my best exp clicks stats?

29 flag clicks  ;D

44 safe clicks  :o and 83 total clicks  ;)

2.10 clicks/s (only for sub-60s) :D

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Nikolaj on Apr 1st, 2006 at 11:58am
@hexx: I think I really should nf more (I flag almost 100% of exp board - my 62 too. That´s why I consider 101 clicks ultra easy ;D). Not speaking about usual "you are mad"  stuff :P... But hey, well done!

Hi Nikolaj,

congratulations! You deserve it. But maybe, sometimes I'll strike back. Some weeks ago, I had a 66 out of nothing, so on an easy board, a 61 is possible for me ;D

Btw, you've also caught the 800th post of this forum. Good job :)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Nikolaj on Apr 2nd, 2006 at 10:35am
I´m on hot streak  8) genius 162.65=41.66 seconds improvement  ;D

@Stephan: thanks, how do you know, whether someone deserves personal record  ;)? Oh and  you are better than me (observation based on tournaments performance), so you should be able to sub 60 and to sub 160 soon. Gogogogo!

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on Apr 2nd, 2006 at 6:30pm
162 :o :o :o :o - are you crazy? I'll never beat that!

I know that you deserve it, because YOU told me that you have quite a lot sub-70s, so it isn't a totally lucky punch like my 63 seconds 15 months ago!

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Nikolaj on Apr 3rd, 2006 at 6:35pm
HOT STREAK CONTINUES!!!  :o :o :o :o

56.69 on ultra-hyper-mega easy board (92 clicks - almost 100% flagging). It really should have been sub 50  ;D ;D ;D

@Stephan: well 10 sub 70 is not THAT much to deserve 62 ;) But if I understand it correctly you jumped from 81 directly to 63 so maybe I really deserved it  ;)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Luca on Apr 3rd, 2006 at 7:42pm
Congratulations Nikolaj!

My stats are quite different from those of Hexx!

My best (only for sub 52) clicks/s is 2,63
and I couldn't never go under 105 total clicks..

My best safe click is 59

What does it means?
I always flag everything
With Hexx stats I could go under 45s..
Is there something wrong in my tecnique?

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Nikolaj on Apr 6th, 2006 at 10:40pm
@Luca: Your technique suffers from overflagging. If you nonflagged last part (let´s say last 5 or 6 columns) of expert board, you could be faster. Few months ago I decided to flag less, but unfortunately my skills weren´t sufficient to be able to increase my end-game speed. So I flagged almost 100% again, but these days I found out I regularly get sub 80s and nonflagging is not that hard anymore and my times are much better ;) so maybe some low 60s are waiting for me soon :D. Oh and grats to 48  :o!

Guys, I have a little puzzle for you: Who might have finished his first beginner 1s game ever ;D ;D ;D?

Yes, it's me - and it was a nice jump from 2.28 down to 1.57 on an optimal board for someone who hates beginner level due to the rareness of totally empty rows! See screenshot on my website (http://www.stephan-bechtel.de).

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Nikolaj on Apr 14th, 2006 at 6:30am
@Stephan: Grats!!! I told you, you can do it  ;D. My best time is 1.89 - see, you are much faster  ;). Keep going, 4 more won´t be THAT hard. After you fill your top 5 beg games with 1s, rankings will be relevant again ;) huge gap of 11,6 points will shrink to  5,2 and then... Who knows  ::).

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Apr 14th, 2006 at 6:43am
Hey Stephan, very nice score!!! 8)

I remember when you even thought getting 2s is too hard for you. Now you have 1s. :D
And you are also the 3rd fastest beg solver behind hexx and Kire (he has 1,51 I think. Should be in the topic 1s). Congratulations!!

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on Apr 14th, 2006 at 8:31pm
Thanks guys.

@Nikolaj: As you have set incredible expert and genius times, it would be very hard for me to overtake you again even if I had 5x 1s...

@Gero: Nice additional information. I must admit that I didn't know that my 1.57 is in #3 of the fastest 1 sec times ever!

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Gero on Apr 15th, 2006 at 5:08am
Well, it's not 3rd fastest time, because I'm sure hexx has some more better times than 1,59. But if only one score counts you're the 3rd fastest beg solver. :)
But that's still pretty nice I would say.
Btw, my best is 1,61 out of 10 finished 1s beg games. I just played 10 1s to fill up my high score list. ;)

PS @Nikolaj: You can reach me today by e-mail if you want. :D

Add: Just looked at some screenshots in screenshot section and saw that Kire posted his best beg game there.

Congratulations Stephan, I was always wondering when you'll find out that you can do it. BTW you're at least fast enough for 13s on Intermediate. I'm pretty sure. And getting 5x1s is annoying, but you're capable as well.

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Nikolaj on Apr 15th, 2006 at 12:33pm
@Stephan: Yes, I really improved my expert performance  8) All my top 5 scores are quite recent (oldest is from March 31st). Maybe I should hunt for 4 more 13s on int  ;)...

Very nice Gene! I have Today´s scores in bookmarks so I hit it and first I thought ah, Gene 188 tourny, looked at tourny standings and what? 183? Returned back, looked more carefully and WOW 188 Genius! Even pushing Stephan out of top 10  ;D Congratulations!

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on Apr 27th, 2006 at 7:51pm
Oh no Gene, how could you do that? This means that I really have to play genius again >:(. This level takes too much time to play (in my opinion), so I don't like it much.

Funny that I currently have my best position in beginner level - the only in which I've never achieved a World Record.

Gene: Congratulations anyway, great performance!

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on Apr 29th, 2006 at 11:16am

Okay, no new genius record yet...

It has been 476 since I uploaded a personal record in expert level for the last time.
Stephan's 63, the former World Record, is history! First, I achieved a 61.68 on quite a "normal" board, and only a few minutes later, I did a nice 56.85 :o on a very easy board. But even if this board must be played in a sub-50 time, I'm very happy that I didn't mess up. Luckily, I started recording right after my 61, so I have a video of my 56 which can be found on my website :D.

Seems to be a very successful sweeping day ;D!

Hey, nice scores Stephan, 13s is now waiting for you.... ;)

In meantime i managed to get a minor 6s improvement in Genius WR with 131.76 .
.... And only 12s to beat 120s barrier. :D
.... And 100th post. 8)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Nikolaj on Apr 30th, 2006 at 6:15am
@Stephan: Congratulations! With your 61 you equalled my top 5 expert average  ;D. If my 56 expert board was ultra-hyper-mega easy, your board is even two cathegories above :o :o :o! Just a little tip 7-5-1 gives 15  ;D

@hexx: hey why do you bother us with minor WR improvements? I really think you should set WR worth posting ;D ;D ;D Grats!

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Stephan on Apr 30th, 2006 at 8:33am
@hexx: 13 will come. And congrats to your incredible times!

@Roland: I'm still in "holidays", but in Germany, there is a 3-days weekend right now ;) which gives me the time to play a little bit more intensive.

@Nikolaj: Yes, I know that 7-5-1 is a guess-free expert row. But somehow, after clearing the empty row, I thought I have to clear the guess-free columns now. I didn't even look at the row numbers, so I noticed the 7-5-1 much later (much too late). Played worst possible, but at least finished, so I don't care very much!

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Nikolaj on Apr 30th, 2006 at 9:56am
@Stephan: I know you know that  ;) I just wondered you flagged squares 3-7 at 8 seconds (obviously you saw "7" in the row, but not 5 and 1 ;)).  And I perfectly understand you - my 56 should have been played MUCH faster too, but I´m really happy with it  ;D

15.04 --> 14.79 ;D

Yesterday, I've just played a few games of intermediate as the current tournament board took too much time - and out of nowhere, there was this nice 14. The screenshot of the very easy board can be found on my website after the weekend.

Yay!  :D

After deciding about 6 months ago I should easily be able to go under 200, and messing up every time I went close, I finally have: 191.25!

Which makes 5 new exp/genius times counting in my top 5s in the last week, with not all that much more playing than usual, since the change to my mouse settings and drivers...

Wow, I wonder what I could do with a better chair  ;D

@hexx: grats. It seems like just the other day you were aiming to reach 148. How much lower do you intend to go on genius?

@ Q

Present day, my goal is to break into the 2 digit barrier, perhaps sub-90. Who knows?! ;)

BTW, have you ever tried to play Int without flagging or you don't like to play NF?
It's so easyyyyyyy ::) , you will improve to 16s without playing that much! :)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Qetuth on Jul 5th, 2006 at 2:16am
I do occasionally try non flagging int, but my best is 29, I rarely get under 35. Whereas playing 'normally' I get high 20s or better pretty consistently, usually several 25s or 26s in a session. And I dont find int as fun as genius, so I don't really try that much.

I'm curious though how many other people in the top 30 or so dont use nf int. I must be close to the fastest now, not that that is neccesarily something to brag about

And...90 seconds?!? :o Well, I did ask....

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by gene on Jul 5th, 2006 at 1:53pm
@ Qetuth

I also use flags on INT... ALL THE TIME... I can't keep a mental picture of where the mines are without them... I only use NF on small tourney boards and Beginner... That may explain why our times are sooooo close on most of our stuff.

I agree with you that the Genius level is much more fun than INT. It also seems like we celebrate mediocrity by giving seconds on the beginner level a value 24 times greater than that of a second on genius on the main world ranking table .

I personally would rather say that I'm a great genius than a great beginner! (although at the moment, i would only say that I'm a decent genius player) :) I probably think this way because I can't for the life of me get a 1 on beginner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ARRRRGGGH!!!!  >:(

Anyways... I couldn't let you go under the radar with that new top 10 genius score!  :P (179)

Title: Re: New personal records

EHEHEH ;D ;D ;D
48.56s sounds great to me ;)

@ Q and Gene:

When you guys find out the pleasure of playing Int on NF mode you won't stop sweeping for 2 weeks. 8)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Qetuth on Jul 5th, 2006 at 4:33pm
@gene: actually, genius seconds are worthless on the main rankings table :P But I've played around with alternate numberings for the weighted boards and can't find one I like better, and in unweighted beg and int become useless except as tiebreakers (which is not neccesarily a bad thing  ;) )

For a while now I've have a spreadsheet with my own rankings. I couldn't decide on a system so I used 16, then sorted poeple by their average ranking over the 16. Incidentally, my last genius time caused me to pass you, going to 9.50th over your 9.75th. Your genius time took you to 8.81th over my 9.69th. We do that a lot. Oh, and hexx? You just went from 1.25st to 1.06st. Theres now only one category you arent winning: sum of 5 int times, you're a very slow 54! Hopeless, really...maybe you should try flagging?  ::)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Qetuth on Jul 26th, 2006 at 5:54am
Thanks...I actually set all 3 of those in the early hours of the morning when I could barely keep my eyes open. So now that's my new strategy, play while falling asleep.

It's hard to believe I have the 5th genius time: It was just the beginning of this month that I broke 200, and a year ago my best scores were something like 5, 40, 120, 300 from memory, and I didn't think scores like my current ones were ever possible for me. I hope that the scores on the best times boards dont scare off too many players,  as it must be hard for new players to realise how much improvement is possible.

@yariv: Is there a way, say by manipulating url parameters, to check old times? Or are slow old times not kept in the database? Being able to look at an individual players record history might be interesting (and embarrasing :P ), and the same for old top10 lists (eg, save a static one every 6 months or so).

Title: Re: New personal records

@Gene: I think I´ll have to play few more genius games  (currently I have 22 finished or so) ;D not that I think I´ll score sub160 instantly  ;)

Title: Re: New personal records
Post by Qetuth on Jul 28th, 2006 at 2:44am
@Gene: I obviously need a much more final final word. Congratulations. You're back ahead of me in my rankings sheet, but every time we do this it gets us past another person: Time to chase Stephan, then Nikolaj  ;D

@Nikolaj: Don't worry, there's no-one chasing you, you don't need to do anything ::)
Seriously though, have you ever tried taking time to solve genius with no guesses? I do that now and then when theres lots of interruptions around so I don't worry about playing a single game at once. Most genius boards (I tihnk about 75%?) can be solved by thought without guessing, and since I started doing this more often my genius times when I AM trying to go fast have improved a lot, as well as my rate of finishing them. So, 22 seems amazingly low to me
